Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update ahead of Sunday’s match against Newcastle United during this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

Spurs head to Tyneside fresh off their first win of the season, a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at home last weekend.

However, St James' Park hasn't been a favorable venue for Tottenham in recent seasons, with a 4-0 loss last year and a 6-1 defeat the season before that.

Newcastle and Tottenham have had similar starts to this campaign, each with one win and one draw. Newcastle also played in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, where they defeated Nottingham Forest on penalties.

Tottenham, meanwhile, were without big signing Dominic Solanke in their win against Everton due to an ankle injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Micky van de Ven delivered a standout performance against Everton, despite a minor injury scare when he hyperextended his knee, though he completed the full match.

Manager Ange Postecoglou gave an update, saying, "Dom is close, but we’re going to be cautious with him. We have a busy schedule after the international break, so he won’t be available on Sunday."

He also mentioned, "Richarlison unfortunately got injured in training, so he’ll be out for the next few weeks."

On a positive note, Rodrigo Bentancur is set to return after recovering from his head injury, with Postecoglou adding, "Rodrigo is feeling great, and the medical team is confident he’ll be ready for Sunday."
