Latest injury news with Rodrigo Bentancur suffering a head injury during the Premier League fixture against Leicester
Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a serious injury during a Premier League match against Leicester City, where he appeared to lose consciousness.
Tottenham had taken the lead through Pedro Porro after dominating the first half, but Leicester responded after halftime with Jamie Vardy heading in a cross at the back post. Vardy also forced a fantastic save from Guglielmo Vicario when he was through on goal. At 1-1, Bentancur went up for a header and collided with Abdul Fatawu, which left him lying on the ground. Medical staff rushed to assist, and a stretcher was brought out, as Bentancur seemed to be unconscious.
Fortunately, Bentancur was seen sitting up but needed oxygen before being carried off. He was replaced by Archie Gray as a concussion substitute. The injury occurred at King Power Stadium, the same place where Bentancur had suffered a serious knee injury previously, sidelining him for nine months. Sky Sports later reported, after speaking with Tottenham's doctor, that Bentancur was conscious and talking, but he will be monitored according to concussion protocols. With Bentancur expected to miss at least the next match, Yves Bissouma, who was suspended for the Leicester game due to a previous incident, could return to the starting lineup.
