Spanish reports suggest that after failing to sign Cristian Romero this summer, Real Madrid are now targeting another rising star from Tottenham.

Madrid had expressed strong interest in Romero and made attempts to sign him, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly demanded £150 million, which deterred the Spanish club.

It’s now being reported that Carlo Ancelotti’s team has shifted their focus to Romero’s defensive partner, Micky van de Ven.

A report from Defensa Central, relayed by Fichajes, claims Madrid are looking to strengthen their defence and have been impressed by the 23-year-old Dutchman’s progress. Juni Calafat, Madrid’s chief scout, is said to be monitoring van de Ven closely.

However, the report states that Tottenham have no plans to sell either of their starting center-backs. If the club asked for £150 million for Romero, they might request an even higher price for van de Ven due to his age and unique qualities.

With his contract running until 2029, Spurs appear unconcerned about Real Madrid’s interest.
