Tottenham Hotspur have signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth on a contract running until 2030, the North London club announced on Sunday.

Although financial details were not disclosed by either side, sources suggest the deal is worth around £65 million ($83 million), setting a new record for an outgoing transfer from Bournemouth. The 26-year-old, who has been capped once for England, had an impressive 2023-24 season, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League to help Bournemouth achieve their highest points total in the Premier League era.

Solanke began his career at Chelsea before moving to Liverpool in 2017, and then to Bournemouth in 2019. He scored 77 goals in 216 appearances across all competitions during his time at the club.

"We’ve got Dominic at a really good time in his career," Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said after Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in a friendly. "He has had to work his way back up, which I always think is a positive.

"Sometimes when careers progress smoothly, you wonder how players will handle setbacks, but Dominic faced challenges earlier in his career. He has fought his way back and become a very good Premier League striker, which is a testament to his character."

Tottenham, who finished fifth last season, struggled in attack following Harry Kane's move to Bayern.

"We are a bit light in that front third, and adding quality is something Dom certainly does," Postecoglou added. "We didn’t really have a player who can make the impact Dom can just with his general play."

Spurs will begin their Premier League campaign at promoted Leicester City on August 19.
