Tottenham Hotspur are looking to deepen Crystal Palace’s troubles when they face off at Selhurst Park in Sunday’s Premier League match-up.
Spurs arrive in excellent form, having won seven of their last eight games across all competitions. They head into Sunday on the back of a decisive 4-1 victory over West Ham and a tight 1-0 win against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. While Tottenham has shown some defensive vulnerabilities this season, they are clear favorites against a struggling Palace side still seeking its first Premier League win.
Crystal Palace, under Oliver Glasner’s management since late last season, has faltered badly in this campaign, earning only three points and remaining in the relegation zone. Their latest setback came with a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Monday, reflecting their rocky start.
In team news, Glasner confirmed that rising midfield talent Adam Wharton, though potentially facing surgery soon, will play in Sunday’s game. Cheick Doucoure is expected back from injury soon, but Sunday is likely too soon for him. Chadi Riad, Matheus Franca, and Chris Richards remain sidelined. After missing the last two starts, Jean-Philippe Mateta might return to the lineup in place of Eddie Nketiah, while Daichi Kamada is expected to keep his spot following a solid performance against Forest.
Crystal Palace's predicted lineup vs. Tottenham (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Chalobah, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Eze, Kamada; Mateta.
Tottenham, on the other hand, will be without Heung-min Son, as manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed the forward is not yet fully recovered. Djed Spence remains out but will return to full training next week, while Wilson Odobert may feature off the bench again. James Maddison’s starting spot could be under pressure, as Dejan Kulusevski has been impressive in his place and may get the nod this time.
Tottenham’s predicted lineup vs. Crystal Palace (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr; Johnson, Solanke, Werner.
With a recent winning streak against Palace, Tottenham will be aiming to make it six in a row. Palace has the talent to challenge Spurs but is low on confidence and struggling to score, while Tottenham’s offensive momentum makes them likely to come out on top. Prediction:
Crystal Palace 1-3 Tottenham
