Todays Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur promises plenty of goals. Both teams have been strong in attack but shaky defensively in the early stages of the 2024/25 season. Spurs, however, are in better form, having won their last five games across all competitions, including a 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros in the Europa League.

Brighton, after a promising start under manager Fabian Hurzeler, has struggled to maintain consistent results. They suffered a 4-2 loss at Stamford Bridge last weekend, continuing a winless run in the league that dates back to late August. Interestingly, the scoreline was the same in their previous meeting with Spurs at the Amex Stadium last season, when Brighton came out on top despite a late Tottenham push. Hurzeler will be hoping for a similar result before the international break.

Heung-min Son is expected to miss Sunday’s game due to a hamstring injury, likely being replaced by Timo Werner again. Richarlison and Wilson Odobert remain out, but Destiny Udogie is fit to return. Kulusevski is set to continue his midfield role, while Brennan Johnson aims to extend his goal streak. Dominic Solanke will also look to continue his scoring form.

Predicted Tottenham Lineup (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Werner.

Brighton Team News:

Joao Pedro

Joao Pedro remains sidelined with a long-term ankle injury, joining Matt O’Riley and Jan Paul van Hecke on the injury list. James Milner is set to return, while Solly March is nearing a comeback after almost a year out. Simon Adingra is doubtful, but new signing Brajan Gruda could make his debut.

Predicted Brighton Lineup (4-3-3): Verbruggen; Kadioglu, Igor, Dunk, Estupinan; Baleba, Wieffer, Ayari; Rutter, Welbeck, Mitoma.

Both teams have had defensive struggles this season, making it likely to be an open, high-scoring contest. Tottenham’s form and attacking strength give them the edge, particularly with Brighton’s high defensive line.

Prediction: Brighton 2-3 Tottenham.
