Ange Postecoglou addressed the media today during an afternoon press conference at the Hotspur Way training ground, where he spoke about the upcoming fixture at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Spurs' 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday in the North London derby was a frustrating experience for the home fans, marking their second consecutive defeat.
After the match, Postecoglou had commented, “I always win things in my second year,” and was asked about this statement during today’s press conference.
According to Nizaar Kinsella from the BBC, Postecoglou responded: “It’s funny – I just stated a fact. Should I lie? I’m not sure how to respond to something that’s true, but it seems like some people were upset by it. Is it me bragging? How else do you want me to answer?
You could argue the competitions were easy or something, but it’s still true, and I don’t understand why people think I’m boasting.”
He added, “It’s true, and my aim is for it to happen again this year. If it doesn’t, I’ll say it mostly happens – but not always.”
